Darren Blakely

I was born in Butler, Alabama, and raised in York, Alabama. In the summer of 2006, I moved to Pell City, where I served the Pell City School System for 16 years as a teacher, basketball and softball coach, and Assistant Athletics Director.

I graduated from Sumter County High School in 1988 and continued my education at Brewer State Junior College and the University of West Alabama (formerly Livingston University). I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Counseling. Additionally, I served as Chief of Police in Epes, Alabama, for 12 years.

I am an active member of First Baptist Church South, where I have served as a Deacon. After retiring from the Pell City School System in September 2021, I launched my own transportation business, Blakely Logistics, LLC. Currently, I am proud to serve as Assistant Basketball Coach at Talladega College.

I am happily married to Zara Blakely.
